That’s so interesting – when you buy jeans that are too long for you (as all of mine are) everyone says you have to get a French seam. I should do my homework!
We will work on Yves Saint Laurent – it’s very easy, and fun to talk about!

I understand next to no French, very sad for a dressmaker, and I have to cover my mouth and mumble a little when I say Ives St. Laurent, because I know my pronunciation sucks. You seem to be fluent in French goodness.

But I DO know seams. The seams on your jeans are flat-felled, not French. Unless, possibly you own silk chiffon jeans. Which MIGHT have French seams in their own self defense. And would be breathtaking on your pretty little body!

I’ve got family in Oregon – I love the Pinot Noirs from there, as well, but it’s such a completely different wine than the same grape from France, or California, for that matter. Very juicy!

Thanks again for reading my ramblings :)

Since discussions based on taste are purely idiosyncratic and can quickly become polemic; I will suggest that the world’s best wine comes from the world’s best terroir. And if it has a Stelvin you know you have picked a winner.

as a side bar; I tried your handkerchief pasta, with my own variations, very tasty. If you really love Pinot Noirs, and if you haven’t already, look to Oregon. (I feel) They are practicing wonderful viticulture of the Pinot Noir.

I did know that differentiation, and I suppose if I found myself in France, I’d order a bourgogne rouge, but know thy audience, I guess :)
And I also have heard that people really like the west coast Pinot Noirs, but I still prefer the wines from France. Must be the terroir… I guess I like French dirt. But really… the French doing it “better” was more about the toast. I’d rather drink Californian wine than eat Californian toast. :)

Only in the USA are wines based on the name of the grape varital. In Europe they are based on growing region so what you would actually want to be asking for is a red (rouge) Burgundy if you want a Pinot Noir. If you ask for a white (blanc) then you will be offered a Chardonnay.

As for the French doing it “better”; in the case of wine I would refer you to the Paris Tasting of 1976 when American wines from Napa, California beat what were considered the top French Bordeaux and (blanc) Burgundy’s in a blind tasting by the leading French food and wine experts.
